Web3 game publisher Immutable has launched its new wallet infrastructure, called “Immutable Passport,” according to a Dec. 19 announcement. The new login method allows users to create and recover their wallet using a Google or Apple account or through an email address.
At launch, five games and apps have implemented Immutable Passport: Gods Unchained, Blocklete Golf, B/R Watch 2 Earn, TokenTrove and AtomicHub. These apps have a combined user base of over 500,000 people, the announcement states.
In addition to launching the wallet infrastructure, Immutable has also debuted a dashboard that automatically displays after logging in. The dashboard will allow players to “find new games with ease, store and add funds, link 3rd party wallets, and manage all [their] in-game items within one familiar experience,” the announcement states.

In an August blog post, Immutable published the results of a consumer study that claimed gamers are twice as likely to sign up for a wallet using Immutable Passport vs a traditional wallet.
In a conversation with Cointelegraph in May, Immutable gave a more detailed explanation of how Passport secures users’ funds when they sign up using an email address. In this case, it uses the Magic software development kit, which generates a private key whenever they first log in. The key is encrypted and sent to an Amazon Web Services Hardware Security Module (HSM), where it is stored afterward. Neither Immutable nor Magic has access to this key, as access to the HSM is controlled via a device-specific token sent to the user through email. For this reason, Immutable considers Passport a “noncustodial” login solution, since it claims it does not require the user to trust Immutable with their funds.
The launch of Passport is the latest step Immutable has taken to make Web3 gaming more convenient for players. On Dec. 11, the team integrated Transak as a payment option for its games. On Dec. 13, it announced that a gas-free transaction option would become available for its zkEVM platform in 2024.
