ReadON, a decentralized Web3 content layer, has recently launched a Telegram bot that allows users to monetize their social influence from content sharing.
The rise of digital media may have completely changed how people interact with content. Still, one thing remained the same — the urge to share after consuming content, including news or articles. While centralized social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Instagram and YouTube make substantial revenue while letting readers and viewers scratch that itch, they are also notoriously stingy when sharing profits with users who try to create content on their platforms.
Telegram, a Web3-friendly messaging platform and its underlying network, The Open Network (TON), have the potential to establish a user-controlled social media network. However, the usage scenarios are rather confined to messaging and social interactions for a long time. In its current form, Telegram is hardly the first platform users think of when it comes to interacting with digital content.
ReadON, a decentralized Web3 content layer, aims to diversify the ecosystem by introducing a Telegram Mini App named ShareON with enhanced data privacy and fair content distribution.
Decentralized content distribution
Aiming to address revenue sharing and content moderation issues of Web2, ReadON developed enhanced privacy measures, a Web2-compatible copyright protocol and a permissionless open content artificial intelligence (AI) model. As a member of the Cointelegraph Accelerator program, ReadON utilizes the inherent features of blockchain — openness, transparency and immutability — to put users back in control in the ever-expanding world of social media.
To improve how Telegram’s estimated 1 billion users consume and share content while being rewarded for it, ReadON built ShareON on the TON blockchain as the extension of its content layer to the TON ecosystem.
ShareON creates a unique recommendation link for users to share content with others within Telegram. Each new view through this link nets the user a specific amount of tREAD tokens. Users can also opt to have a personalized content feed on their homepage, with topics like “cryptocurrency” or “entertainment.”

ShareON also puts forth content-sharing tasks with view count goals. Users can join these tasks and contribute to achieving the total number of views, earning their share from the reward pool when the goal is reached.
The “Task” feature has been shaking up the digital advertising model of Web2, where centralized platforms were the sole beneficiaries of revenues. ShareON introduces an innovative approach, empowering all individuals with social influence to directly monetize their reach by promoting content.
“From the iteration of social media platforms on Web2, such as Facebook or Instagram, we can see that they also experienced the typical social-only stages at the earliest time. Content was later incorporated into the usage scenario,” said a ReadON spokesperson and added:
“This proves the demand for content that can fuel meaningful social interactions. Perhaps Telegram is also in this iteration stage. We would like to leverage this opportunity to establish a fair and decentralized content distribution and earning distribution mechanism for the ecosystem.”
ReadON has launched ShareON in its Community Beta phase, aiming to transform Telegram’s network and the TON blockchain into a thriving content ecosystem by introducing one of the first content-centric applications within the platform’s native interface.
Through its decentralized content distribution model, ShareON empowers Telegram users to amplify their communication or social power while having the opportunity to earn their own share of advertising revenue. By giving the power back to users with a fair and transparent distribution model, ShareON paves the way for the TON ecosystem to become a go-to network for users to consume and share content.
