With that in mind, let’s address the pretty cool fact that the With Beauty Salon had its first customer pay in Bitcoin on January 2.
That customer was a local blogger, who was told in an interview with the salon’s head of marketing, Lee Kyung Won, that associating the shop with Bitcoins would “attract trend-setters, who are the kind of people we are looking for as customers.”
Fashion and tech early adoption go hand-in-hand in Seoul, so it only makes sense that some of the city’s 10 million residents would be interested in swapping digital currency for a haircut.
Lee first introduced the Bitcoin idea as a marketing initiative at the end of last year, but the thought at the time was that the move would attract mostly foreigners and tourists.
Turns out the first customer was a local.
This isn’t the first bit of hair-Bitcoin news this week. As we reported earlier , a group of hair clinics around the world have begun accepting Bitcoin payments.
The first patient was a man in his 30s who shelled out 11.5 BTC on a hair transplant.
