Killer Whales is debuting its second season, featuring a $1.5 million incubation fund for crypto projects.

Killer Whales, a Web3 business reality TV show, is set to return for its second season with even higher stakes for participants, aiming to attract hundreds of millions of viewers to the crypto industry.

Season two of Killer Whales will be available to watch starting March 6 on X and Hello TV, while its global premiere on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Tubi and Google Play is set for April, according to an announcement shared with Cointelegraph.

Contestants will compete for a prize pool that includes a $1.5 million incubation fund, mentorship opportunities and a $100,000 accelerator package provided by CoinMarketCap, which co-produced the show alongside Hello Labs and Altcoin Daily. Hello Labs will also provide ongoing strategic support for the winning projects.

The first season of Killer Whales, Web3’s first business reality TV show, reportedly reached over 600 million viewers across 65 countries.

The second season of the show may bring more retail attention to the crypto industry, according to Sander Gortjes, co-founder and CEO of Hello Labs.

Gortjes told Cointelegraph:

“We break down how blockchain projects operate and why blockchain technology has benefits to the users and companies building service models on top of it. This has resulted in a broad positive feedback from the retail audience — our viewing numbers and reviews show that.”

The second season made significant changes in response to audience feedback, including “a broader set of whales and participants translating the culture of Web3, more tech-driven projects and a grand prize: the $1.5 million acceleration prize,” he added.

Key benchmarks for crypto projects on Killer Whales

Competing projects will be judged based on a set of key data points, including their monthly active users, revenue, revenue per user, profitability and return on advertising spend.

However, judges will also focus on each project’s tokenomics, Gortjes said, adding:

“How their tokens are distributed, if there is a fair market in place, and how they will deeper integrate any token into their model.”

Judges will also focus on projects that have already launched “consumer-grade applications but use blockchain as technology to benefit the customer experience, reduce costs or create a viable benefit for all parties (security, privacy, availability, execution speed), without a token being involved beyond the major available coins,” added Gortjes.
