La Liga’s Barca is set on a goal this time: to drive fans’ and supporters’ engagement through the blockchain. Announced last December 2024, the Barcelona and Cardano collaboration aims to blend technology and sports to benefit its growing community of fans and sports enthusiasts.
The initiative will cover three objectives: engage FC Barcelona’s growing fan base, boost on-chain transactions, and expand Cardano’s ecosystem.
Although the initiative was first announced on LinkedIn, it was through a Twitter/X post by Frederik Gregaard that the project gained traction. In a shared post, FC Barcelona aims to build its Web 3.0 vision by leveraging blockchain, which will empower its fans.

Barca X Cardano Partnership Promises To Empower Fans
In Gregaard’s shared post, FC Barcelona aims to improve its reach and reshape fan engagement by partnering with Cardano. Barca’s partnership with Cardano is a perfect fit since both companies are leaders and innovators in their respective industries.
FC Barcelona is one of La Liga’s biggest brands with a unique selling point. Barca is community-driven, with over 150,000 members and 1,200 fan clubs or Penyes, which impact the team’s roadmap. On the other hand, Cardano is backed by a vibrant community that sets its policies and overall direction.
Fans Get The Rewards
The two companies’ collaboration primarily aims to engage fans and expand the crypto company’s ecosystem. In the same post, Gregaard shared that this collaboration aims to complete three objectives.
First, it seeks to create employment opportunities for FC Barcelona’s young fans and supporters. Second, it promotes learning and understanding of crypto and the blockchain, which clearly benefits Cardano. Third, the collaboration can reward Barca fans with digital assets like ADA and NFTs.
The project will primarily run on Cardano’s Andamio platform, which aims to support the enterprises’ adoption of the blockchain. Cardano and FC Barcelona will mainly focus on Barca Vision, a platform that aims to improve players’ engagement by leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and Web 3.0.
The BarcaVerseFC Barcelona and Cardano’s collaboration will ultimately create the BarcaVerse, a platform where fans can connect with their peers. As mentioned, the BarcaVerse will run on Cardano’s Andamio and works using the learn, work, and reward model.
Here, fans can learn and master some skills, like gender equality and sustainability, or work on real-life FC Barcelona projects, like celebrating the club’s 125th anniversary. And for their application of skills and knowledge, they can earn rewards in the form of tokens and NFTs.
The initiative will benefit both companies in the long run. Barca can connect with and re-engage its loyal fanbase. Barca fans will also be able to earn money while learning skills. For Cardano, this project will expand Andamio’s ecosystem and drive blockchain adoption.
