The World Economic Forum (WEF) will convene its 54th annual meeting in the Swiss city of Davos on Jan. 15. The five-day gathering will see participation from over 100 governments from around the world, major international organizations, 1,000 partner companies, as well as civil society leaders, social entrepreneurs and the media.

The theme of the 2024 WEF conference will be “Rebuilding Trust” amid escalating geopolitical tensions, evolving economic policies and rapid technological advancements. The event will focus on six critical themes: economic resilience, energy transformation, globalization, productive artificial intelligence (AI), strengthening institutions, and women’s health.

Just like at WEF 2023, Cointelegraph will be on the ground, bringing you the latest updates and happenings from the event. While WEF focuses on social and global economic issues, there has been a growing presence of blockchain and crypto at the meeting in recent years.

In 2024, the focus has shifted toward the role of AI and the tokenization of real-world assets. Some of the most notable sessions around these topics include a public conference on tokenization, “The Tokenization Economy,” scheduled for Jan. 17.

The focus of the discussion will be on the central tenets of tokenization, how it can be leveraged, and where the technology is headed. The likes of USDC issuer Circle CEO Jeremy and Allaire Denelle Dixon, CEO of Stellar Development Foundation, will join the meeting.

Another discussion scheduled for Jan 18 titled "Clear-Eyed about Crypto" is focused on the future of digital assets and crypto and the role of regulators simultaneously in promoting innovation while protecting the consumer,

Kristina Lucrezia Cornèr will lead Cointelegraph team at Davos while a host of influential industry participants from the cryptocurrency and blockchain space are set to feature prominently at different events.
