John Lineker Vs. John Dodson
This time, we have the two Bantamweight knockout artists in a 5 round battle. John Dodson, “The Magician,” is known for his big smile and incredible speed and power. Lineker is known for his power and likes to get on the inside. Lineker has more of an aggressive style and wants to cut off the cage, while Dodson will use a lot of movement and is happy staying on the outside.
Somebody is going down in this fight. They might need one round to feel each other out and figure out the timing but after that, this is going to escalate.
Once one of them starts throwing hard the other will return the favor. Under 2.5 rounds 2.05 / fight doesn’t start the 4th 1.74 Keep your eyes open; these guys move FAST!
Will Brooks Vs. Alex Oliveira
Alex Oliveira has good striking and has shown good grappling up against the cage. He uses knees and kicks well and is a danger on the outside. He has a four-inch reach advantage over Brooks, which he will use to his advantage. The question here is: will he be able to stop Will Brooks’ takedowns?
Will Brooks can be very aggressive. He uses his wrestling and has also shown a willingness to stand in the pocket with some strikers. In this match-up, I think Will Brooks is going to be too much for Oliveira. He will manage to get a takedown at some point, and you do not want Brooks in the top position. Oliveira will try to use knees to make Brooks think twice about shooting for a takedown, and we might see a good part of this fight up against the cage.
Pick: Will Brooks -3.5
The undercard is stacked full of octagon newcomers. Kelten Vieria makes her debut vs. Kelly Faszholz. Joachim Christensen will also make his debut vs. Henrique da Silva. A third debut match features Brandon Moreno vs. the ninth-ranked Louis Smolka.
All three match-ups are no cake walk for a debut, and it will be interesting to see how they manage with octagon jitters. Everyone is looking forward to UFC 204 and the rematch of Bisping vs. Henderson. Make sure to come back to read the picks for that fight card, as well as others.
