Bitcoin community is expanding on the global scale as new businesses are beginning to accept payments in this digital currency. Today, we are bringing you four businesses that have announced that they will allow their clients to pay in bitcoins. AlanaBlue.net, MIT Coop, Root Data Center and even one shop in Swanage, these are new places where customers may purchase different goods with Bitcoin.
AlanaBlue.net
AlanaBlue.net, a top reseller for BackupBeast, has announced that it will only accept Bitcoin from their clients for annual online backup and storage subscriptions. Bitcoin community really has something to celebrate as AlanaBlue’s 2,000 GB online backup and storage service can be purchased only with bitcoins. This preferred and only method of payment has been announced on the company’s new website. Carlos JE Rice Perez and Zoheb Karnachi comment on it as follows:

MIT Coop
COOP store at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, that offers T-shirt, mugs and other items with the school logo, has enabled students and other customers to pay for the goods in Bitcoin.
As stated by COOP president Jerry Murphy the store is responding to student adoption that grew out of the MIT Bitcoin Project. Every MIT undergraduate will receive $100 in Bitcoin from the student-run MIT Bitcoin Club, which raised more than $500,000 for the program.
The Co-op will continue to list their prices in US dollars when payment-processing software, BitPay, will automatically exchange clients’ bitcoins. In the end, the store will receive the final payment in US dollars.
Root Data Center
A world class colocation provider, Root Data Center, is now accepting payment in Bitcoin in Canada. Colocation is the practice of housing your servers and devices in a professional database. The company claims to be the first colocation facility to offer this method of payment in the country. The innovation has been inspired by the attention the company was getting from Bitcoin miners.
ROOT’s ability to affordably cool over 30kW/rack has made it possible for high density Bitcoin clients to reduce their operating costs by over 30% to 50%.
ROOT Data Center CEO Jason van Gaal commented: “Accepting Bitcoin is definitely a way that we can demonstrate our support to Bitcoin clients from Montreal and around the world. We feel strongly that Bitcoin will play an important role in how we conduct local and international trade today, but also in the foreseeable future”.
Shop in Swanage accepts Bitcoin
Andy James, owner of Swanage News, has become the only shop in Dorset to accept payments in Bitcoin. He learned about Bitcoin from a TV program and decided to allow customers to pay in bitcoins. He rejoiced a phenomenal response from clients even outside of Dorset.
Andy wanted to make his shop more interesting for the younger audience. As many shops in Swanage do not offer card payments because of the transaction fees, his app allows him to eliminate this cost. It eliminates the initial problem with the credit card payments. Mr James, happy with the simplicity of paying in Bitcoin, says “I think in the long run, the idea of offering Bitcoins as payment could take a while for people to consider, but then it will take off quite quickly.”
