The Latin American Bitcoin and Blockchain Conference — one of the oldest and most pioneering crypto events in the world — is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year in its birthplace of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Taking place on Nov. 10 through 13, this year’s conference will be held at the Costa Salguero Center, CABA, just a week before the soccer world championship in Qatar. In honor of this occasion and to celebrate the conference’s 10-year milestone, LABITCONF will be tapping into Argentina’s history and rich soccer culture. The conference will host activities and events, providing content in harmony with a country passionate about soccer and with one of the most active crypto ecosystems on the planet.
“For LABITCONF’s 10th anniversary, we returned to Argentina not only because it is the organization’s place of origin, but because it is also the mecca of crypto development and adoption in Latin America. With the Qatar soccer world championship taking place just a week after the conference, we wanted soccer to take center stage to represent our mission and our community coming together to improve the world through a technology that provides efficiency, ownership and transparency,” said Rodolfo Andragnes, founder and managing director of LABITCONF.
LABITCONF will bring together more than 130 global industry leaders with more than 50 talks, panels, hackathons, workshops and games. Among the speakers at this year’s conference are Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum and one of the most influential leaders in the crypto ecosystem today; Elizabeth Stark, founder of the Lighting Network; and Samsom Mow, who led the efforts for El Salvador to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender.
“LABITCONF is an exciting event for the Latin American crypto community — it will connect global players in the crypto space and offer a very special vibe that combines technology, entertainment and local culture, creating an environment that builds long-lasting human and commercial ties,” said Andragnes.
LABITCONF will take place across four pavilions featuring a main stage, workshops, an exhibition hall, NFT/gaming/Metaverse art areas, soccer-themed activities and more. As part of the conference, LABITCONF also launched a soccer tournament at the Costa Salguero Courts in Buenos Aires on Sept. 9, where 12 teams are competing for the LABITCONF Cup by Crypto.com, a special trophy created for the occasion, and more than $5,000 in prizes. The final game will be played during the conference.
Additionally, LABITCONF will host a hackathon a few weeks prior to the event where programmers can compete for grants and awards. Following the main conference, the organization will host a crypto tour through Patagonia that will include a micro-conference in San Martín de los Andes on Nov. 15.
Every year, the LABITCONF organizers aim to give back to the event’s host country through fundraisers or auctions. Last year, LABITCONF used the proceeds from the auction of surfboard artwork created during the event to renovate the waiting room of the Benjamin Bloom Children’s Hospital in the country’s capital, San Salvador. This year, LABITCONF organizers are planning to give back in a significant way. More details will be announced closer to the event.
