Today iDEGEN announced it will become the first crypto AI agent powered by DeepSeek.
Since launching in late November, iDEGEN has established itself as a leading player in the AI meme coin space thanks to a stream of viral and often controversial content on X, Telegram, and, most recently, RedNote. The team behind the project has introduced technical innovations to stay ahead of the competition and attract investment, contributing to its $18.6m presale raise.
Nevertheless, the introduction of a second version of iDEGEN, which will run on a platform that is the talk of the AI world, DeepSeek, marks a major step forward. As we approach the end of iDEGEN’s presale on February 26th, the market's response to this significant development remains to be seen.
iDEGEN wins the DeepSeek race?
AI meme coins have been leading the way as the crypto sector’s standout performers in Q1. Both Fartcoin and ai16z recently cracked a $2 billion market cap, and the team at iDEGEN is targeting similar growth through an aggressive strategy of regular tech upgrades.
This week has been quite eventful. Seen as the ChatGPT killer, DeepSeek has rocked the markets, and there has been a fiercely competitive race between AI agents to introduce compatibility with the China-based model first. iDEGEN has now won this race, again demonstrating its ability to stay one step ahead of the competition. It is perhaps the pace at which this project moves and the fast reactive nature of the developers that is driving such widespread interest.
iDEGEN will continue to operate its popular AI model, which has now generated nearly 1.5 million impressions. Staying true to its dynamic approach, it will now introduce a second version of the agent, which will run on DeepSeek.
In a move bound to generate controversy, as this directly positions the ‘American’ proprietary AI behind iDEGEN against the new Chinese disruptor, iDEGEN will, as always, allow its community to decide which version of its AI will become the main agent.
Why DeepSeek matters
News broke of a new revolutionary AI model at the start of the week. A side project of Chinese investment bank, High-Flyer, DeepSeek’s new model, R1, effectively matches OpenAI’s flagship o1 model across multiple benchmarks at a fraction of the cost.
The impact on the AI world has been significant. Nvidia’s share price tanked 15% over the weekend, with markets realizing they may have overvalued compute power in the wake of a vastly more efficient type of model that requires far fewer chips to run.
By becoming the first autonomous agent to support DeepSeek, iDEGEN is now positioning itself at the very apex of the AI meme coin industry—a move timed to coincide with the imminent public listing debut of its IDGN token on the 27th of February.
