Based on several reports, US Vice President Kamala Harris has now secured enough delegate votes to emerge as the official presidential candidate for the US Democratic party in the upcoming national elections. Following this development, the Harris campaign team has now been strengthened with the addition of multiple top political advisers, in preparation for what could be a historic electoral season.
Harris Campaign Team Onboards Ex-Obama/Binance Advisor
According to a Reuters report on Friday, David Plouffe, a former senior adviser to ex-US President Barack Obama, is part of the latest forces to join Kamala Harris’s campaign team. Plouffe is best known as the campaign manager who guided Obama’s successful presidential bid in 2008 whilst also serving as a senior aide to the 44th US president during his re-election campaign in 2012.
However, since leaving the political scene, David Plouffe has made notable ventures in the crypto space serving as a member of the Global Advisory Board of the world’s largest exchange Binance in 2022, and also being a global strategic advisor to crypto payment provider Alchemy Pay.
Nevertheless, it remains uncertain if the presence of David Plouffe will now provide some clarity on Kamala Harris’s stance on the crypto industry.
In an unseemingly fashion, the crypto space has gained much importance in the build-up to the US national elections in November. Interestingly, Harris’s direct and strongest opponent, former President and the Republican party presidential campaign Donald has been quite vocal in his support of digital assets in recent weeks.
Trump has promised a more supportive government with plans to pivot from the perceived “anti-crypto” stance of the Biden administration. Notably, he has expressed intentions to sack the current chairman of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Gary Gensler, and bring in a replacement who is receptive towards the adoption of digital assets. Donald Trump is also a proud supporter of Bitcoin and is angling for the token’s use as a strategic reserve asset for the US Dollar.
Kamala Harris Has A Choice To Make
With the elections fast approaching, Kamala Harris is expected to reveal her potential policies on the crypto space which could be important in turning the electoral tides. So far, several Democrats have called for the presidential nominee and the Democratic party at large to adopt a pro-crypto stance in an attempt to appease the 52 million “disgruntled” crypto users in the US.
Alongside David Plouffe, Kamala Harris’s ranks have also been bolstered with the addition of Stephanie Cutter, a Democrat communications expert, and Mitch Stewart, a senior adviser on battleground states, and David Binder, a public opinion research specialist, all of whom were part of Barack Obama’s campaign team/government.
