Darktrace, Recorded Future, ManageEngine and FireEye partner with Finnosec to reiterate the need for cyber resilience in the Middle East.
As the world has evolved to a “new normal” way of living, cybersecurity experts have been charged to remain alert as a result of the increased opportunities available for hackers due to work-from-home policies being stretched to unplanned levels.
The 2021 edition of Finnosec Middle East lives up to its reputation of being the leading summit on financial security and cyber resilience in the Gulf Cooperation Council region.
At the virtual event, the array of excellent speakers took turns to share insights on how the pandemic has completely disrupted the perception of the financial services sector and planning around strategic, operational, technological and financial risks. The uprising cyber threats call for emerging cyber resilience. Technologies, such as artificial intelligence, are currently being infused with cybersecurity strategies to promote ICS cybersecurity-oriented initiatives that will lay a roadmap to safeguard the banking, financial services and insurance industry against ever-evolving cyber threats. There was also an interactive Q&A segment after each presentation and panel to further answer more specific questions from delegates. There were also prizes to be won, which were provided by event sponsors.
“As it relates to the need for a more nuanced method of combatting cyberattacks, AI plays a crucial role,” Roly Stride, regional director MENA at Darktrace, highlighted at the virtual event.
During his presentation, Annavi Karthik, chief evangelist at ManageEngine, said: “One of the ways to overcome threats and improve IT efficiency is by making business-critical applications available.”
“Threat intelligence should be used in making decisions in managing threats and mapping your controls to your attack framework,” Harri Sylvander, senior consulting manager, Mandiant, A FireEye Company, said at the event.
“Instilling the culture of placing the total responsibility of cybersecurity within an organization is not a one-size-fits-all approach,” highlighted Mohamed Saad Mousa, chief information security officer at Ikea Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
In conclusion, at a panel session, Mohammed Alshaghdali, chief information security officer of Hala Saudi Arabia, said: “The method of instilling cybersecurity awareness is by using the top-to-bottom approach.”
