Cosmoverse, the largest Cosmos conference, is heading to Medellin, Colombia from Sept. 26 to 28, 2022. The layer-0 blockchain is redefining what “interchain” can mean for emerging builders and projects looking for solutions to interconnectivity issues.
“The Cosmos ecosystem is providing space for significant customization and innovations, making it the perfect blockchain for emerging regions. The ecosystem has seen incredible growth this past year, and the conference is aiming to gather the community in person to collaborate on innovative ideas to further drive the adoption of the Cosmos ecosystem,” says Juri Maibaum, co-founder of Cosmoverse.
The growth of this ecosystem was recently bolstered by the news that decentralized crypto exchange DYdX is moving its platform from a layer-2 Ethereum decentralized application onto its own Cosmos-based blockchain.
The popularity of the Cosmos chain with early builders and bigger projects alike comes down to its customizable platform.
As a layer 0, Cosmos is providing tools so that projects can launch their own customized blockchain tailored to their needs — specifically the Cosmos SDK. In addition, Cosmos’ Inter-Blockchain Communication Protocol allows chains in the ecosystem to communicate seamlessly, removing the need for bridges to transfer assets.
This combination provides a powerful toolkit from which projects can build and expand their own ecosystem without compromising on interoperability.
Cosmos is building a name for itself as one of the most diverse ecosystems in crypto, and as of July, it was holding 0.82% of the DeFi sector’s total value locked (TVL). It hosts over 200 application-specific Cosmos-native DApps that are providing users value without compromising the overall interconnected mission of these communities.
Cosmoverse aims to bring more awareness to Cosmos as an interchain platform and further integrate itself into the South American crypto community.
The event’s highlighted speakers include Ethan Buchman, co-founder of Cosmos, Sunny Aggarwal, co-founder of Osmosis, the largest interchain decentralized exchange on the Cosmos Blockchain, and Zaki Manian, co-founder of Sommelier Finance, a platform that aims to optimize DeFi with off-chain computation and improved interoperability.
This year’s Cosmoverse themes will take a look at NFTs, bridges, venture capital, regenerative finance, and crypto in Latin America, featuring a mixture of keynote talks and panels.
All this will take place in Medellin, the emerging tech hub of Latin America. This thriving Colombian city provides a promising location to continue onboarding the thriving local developer community into Web3.
