A PhD student at the University of Edinburgh has won $500 after his essay on the future of cryptocurrencies won a contest held by Changelly and Cointelegraph.
Seb Hudson passionately argued that the crypto sector has a “glaring problem” because of low levels of adoption — but digital assets offer a compelling alternative to fiat currencies in countries with high inflation rates.
He went on to predict that cryptocurrencies will be adopted most heavily in developing countries to begin with, while Western economies will follow later.
"Having keenly paid attention to crypto for the last few years, I'm simply delighted to be able to share my thoughts back to the community,” Seb Hudson said.
Changelly wanted to provide students with a platform to express themselves — amplifying the voices of a new generation of crypto leaders.

All university students were given the chance to take part in the contest. A prize of $300 was also awarded for the essay that came in second place, with a $200 prize for third place too.
Contestants were given seven essay topics to choose from — including whether it’s possible to solve the money laundering problem facing the crypto sector, the key milestones in achieving milestone adoption, and which blockchain is the most promising from a technical standpoint.
