Personal Details 

Aurélien Menant, born 1983, currently living in Hong Kong 

Education 

Master’s from EM Lyon Business school 
BSc in Mechanics from Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris VI 

Professional experience and achievement 

Aurélien is co-founder and CEO of Gatecoin.com, a digital currencies exchange based in Hong Kong and incubated by government body HKSTP that will offer its clients to trade bitcoins and digital currencies through local transfers, using a global network of bank accounts.

Gatecoin is also currently developing bitcharities.org, which will allow charities to receive donations from all around the globe using bitcoins. 

Aurélien serves on the boards of several startups in Hong Kong and is one of the co-founders of the Bitcoin Association of Hong Kong. 

He started his career as an investment banker, first in Paris and London, working on M&A and LBO deals, then in Hong Kong, working on cross-border acquisition financing and capital structure advisory deals for a major global CIB. 

Aurélien received a BSc in engineering from Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris VI and a MSc in Management from EM Lyon Business School.

Interests 

Electronic music and other instrumental music, politics, sailing, kitesurfing and snowboarding  

First experience with cryptocurrencies 

Aurélien discovered Bitcoin in 2012 and started using it in early 2013. Unfortunately, as a former banker and risk-averse person, he did not invest all his savings in it. 

Role in the Bitcoin community 

Aurélien is one of the co-founders of the Bitcoin Association of Hong Kong. He regularly participates in meetings, conferences, interviews and debates about digital currencies.
